Darklab Airbolt, Killswitch & PowerBolt+ From FK Irons
Introducing the latest collection from FK Irons, featuring portable power packs and its first ever power switch.
The US manufacturer has started off the year strong with not one, not two, not three, but four exciting new products that will make tattooing that little bit easier for artists.
So let’s get stuck in, shall we?
Darklab Airbolt
FK Irons’ newest battery pack, the Darklab Airbolt, is a portable and compact power supply that works with your choice of RCA cables to keep your rotary machine running all day long.
Weighing in at 121 g, the power supply is easy to take with you to guest spots and conventions, while the built-in anti-slip magnetic pad will ensure that it won’t be going anywhere while you work. With its compact shape, it’s also a breeze to bag or barrier protect!
The Darklab Airbolt runs between 5 and 12 V, with voltage adjustable in 0.5 V increments, and the lithium-ion battery with USB-C connection boasts charging speeds up to 1.0 A. The inclusion of Dynamic Power-Path Management means you can work as you charge the pack, and the automatic jumpstart feature has an extra kick for those machines that need a little more power to get started.
With just a LED voltage display on the battery pack, you can get more information and control when you connect theAirbolt to the Darklab app. From here you can set an unlimited number of presets, control the device with your voice, get firmware updates, and easily adjust the give with the eGive system.
Use the Darklab Airbolt to keep your tattoo machine running for up to 15 hours, or look to the Mini model for a lighter load.
Darklab Airbolt Mini
It might be the little brother of the Airbolt, but FK Irons’ Mini version is still pretty damn mighty.
Similar in shape and form, the Darklab Airbolt Mini has many of the same features as the Airbolt, including automatic jumpstart, charging speeds up to 1.0 A, Dynamic Power-Path Management, and a 5–12 V range.
It does have some noticeable differences, though: as it weighs only 96 g, it’s the perfect partner for trips away from the studio and will still keep you going for up to 10 hours.
Simple to bag and barrier protect and featuring a magnetic anti-slip pad, this portable bit of kit is perfect for a little power and stability on the go.
Darklab PowerBolt+
Never settling for just good, the Darklab PowerBolt+ follows the original PowerBolt wireless battery pack but offers 50% longer battery life, with a reliability and stability to be envied.
Easily attachable to your FK Irons EXO or Spektra Flux rotary machines with just a quarter-turn click, the PowerBolt+ boasts a run time of up to 15 hours when its lithium-ion battery is fully charged. The unit displays the battery capacity and a voltage LED indicator, and just like the Airbolt twins, it can be connected to the Darklab app via Bluetooth for voice control, preset management and eGive adjustments.
Lightweight at only 85 g with a max output of 1.0 A, the PowerBolt+ supplies 5-12 V. Other than the buttons to adjust voltage, it only has an on/off button, making the system simple and intuitive to use. The inclusion of Dynamic Power-Path Management means you don’t have to stop to charge, and with up to 15 hours of run time you’ll never be without power.
For ultimate wireless control, make sure to pair the PowerBolt+ with the Darklab Killswitch from FK Irons.
Darklab Killswitch
FK Irons’ first dedicated power switch is a fully wireless beast, designed to minimise cross-contamination and power-controlled by an accelerometer sensor with no mechanical parts.
Held firmly in place by the built-in anti-slip mount, a simple tap of the Killswitch is all you need to turn your connected Darklab device on and off. Make sure to also download the Darklab app for future firmware updates.
The Killswitch charges through USB-C and delivers a current of 0.5 A, plenty to keep it running, and is compatible with the PowerBolt+, Lightning Bolt and Airbolt power packs from FK Irons – however it does not work with the original PowerBolt, so bear that in mind.
